ionscope develops, manufactures and sells systems for scanning ion conductance microscopy (SICM) - a new SPM technique, able to produce images of living cell membranes at a resolution fifty times better than achievable using a conventional optical microscope. ionscope's technology has been developed jointly with a team of scientists at Imperial College London and Cambridge University, and it is protected by a portfolio of patent filings. ionscope is a start-up company, whose shareholders are its founders and the universities.
Exhibits: ICnano provides a simple, robust and reliable system for scanning ion conductance microscopy (SICM) - the ideal technique for high resolution imaging of * living cell membranes * soft or fragile surface features * any surface, whether organic or inorganic, that is immersed in electrolyte.

Krüss GmbH is a world leader in surface science measuring instruments. The company provides a complete range of services and instruments for the study of liquid/air and liquid/liquid interfaces as well as solid surfaces. Wettability and adhesion behaviour of solid surfaces: These can be studied using the Krüss range of contact angle measuring instruments. Typical applications include anti-bacterial materials, medical implants, bio-materials, polymers, nano-structured materials… Behaviour of surfactants at liquid/air and liquid/liquid interfaces: This is achieved through a variety of static and dynamic surface and interfacial tension measuring techniques. Areas of application include emulsions, foams, aerosols, cosmetics, surface cleaning solutions, adhesives… Krüss will be exhibiting two instruments at the event: -
Exhibits:
The DSA100 uses drop shape analysis to measure contact angle, surface free energy of solid surfaces and surface tension of liquids.
The K100 tensiometer not only allows measurement of surface and interfacial tension but contact angle on both films and powders.

Come and see us for more information on the AFM product line from Park Systems including our new XE-Bio with Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy for live cell imaging in liquid, as well as our XE100 demonstration AFM system. Park Systems is a Korean company established in 1997 as PSIA corp. by Dr. Sang-il Park who is widely regarded as a pioneer in the field of commercial SPM. On April 7th, 2007; the 10th anniversary since the formation of the company, PSIA was renamed Park Systems. Initially a development company for Dr. Park’s former company (Park Scientific Instruments (PSI) / Digital Instruments (DI)), Park Systems started manufacturing its own product in 2002 and commenced exporting in 2003; Scanwel have been the UK and Ireland agent since early 2003, and approximately 500 XE series AFM systems have been sold worldwide to date. Scanwel provides local technical and service back up for all of our distributed products.
Exhibit: XE-100 high accuracy, small sample, scanning probe microscope with improved scan accuracy, scan speed and optical vision.

Ionoptika is a designer and manufacturer of ion beam systems for surface analysis applications. The company’s product range includes some world leaders in SIMS primary ion beam technology such as the FLIG 5 floating ion gun, for profiling shallow junctions to less than 1 nm depth resolution, and the range of C60 ion guns for analysis of organic samples.
In addition, Ionoptika has recently developed a revolutionary new instrument – The J105 3D Chemical Imager – for imaging mass spectrometry of organic samples. The J105 generates mass spectra pixel by pixel with simultaneous high mass resolution and high spatial resolution. It can image individual cells in three dimensions with a mass spectrum for each volume pixel. An MSMS mode assists with identification of molecular ions. The first J105 instrument is currently in use at The University of Manchester, working on analysis and imaging of small tissue samples or individual cells.
For 20 years Windsor Scientific has been providing sales and support for electrochemical, metrological and analytical equipment to both industry and academia. Our product range includes unique instruments applicable to the areas of surface science and the biointerface. For electrochemical analysis we offer modular potentiostat/galvanostats and single/dual channel SPR instruments from EcoChemie. We also provide the Bioforce Nano eNabler, a molecular printer for producing biological arrays with atto-femto litre volumes of biological material, and the Nanofilm Imaging Ellipsometer from Accurion for sub-nm measurement of thin films (with 1 micron lateral resolution) both ideal systems for biochip applications. For single cell imaging we provide the Digital Holographic Microscope, a unique instrument capable of quantitative measurements of 3D topography and refractive index in real time with nanometric resolution. We will also be exhibiting the following system at the event:
Exhibit: The Nanosurf easyScan 2 atomic force microscope: an easy-to-use, robust and portable imaging system for sub-nm 3D topographic measurements.
We have been distributors of specialist techniques for scientific and medical research for 30 years. For surface science and biomolecular analysis, we offer single- or multi-channel Quartz Crystal Microbalances (QCM-D) from Q-Sense and Dual-Channel Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) instruments from Reichert. Both of these techniques can be combined with a variety of other methods, including electrochemical measurements, fluorescence spectroscopy and ellipsometry. We have also recently introduced a technique from the Swedish company Denator for stabilising biological tissues and fluids from the moment of sampling. Stabilization and standardization of sampling processes upstream significantly enhances the quality of data obtained from analytical techniques used downstream.
